Wakefield Gardens

Introduction |
Situated amongst the most scenic suburbs of
Islamabad, Wakefield Gardens were established at
Khanpur by G.E.C
Wakefield, C.I.E, O.B.E. in
the early twentieth century. In his book titled
"Recollections" Mr. Wakefield refers to his
orchards as follows:
In 1931, I was staying in Rawalpindi preparatory
to retirement when I was roped in by the
military authorities to supply
fruits and
vegetables to the troops of the Northern
Command. I then set up a citrus farm importing
all the orange and
the grapefruit trees from
Florida, California, South Africa and Australia.
It has been hard work but pleasant and free from
intrigue and i am glad to say that it has become
a huge success and produces the finest oranges
and grapefruits in
India. Mr. Wakefield then
describes his orchards in the following words:

You are nearer God's earth in a garden,
Then anywhere else on earth.

The historic orchard was
later acquired by the late Nawab of Amb. It has
now been acquired by Minawa Construction
and it is proposed to afford an opportunity to our
valued clients to own your Orchard/farm in
the lush green Khanpur
valley. |

The Project
The
Project has been conceived and designed for
absolute luxury living in a pollution free exclusive environment
just along the periphery of Capital, Islamabad.
If you were to draw a circle around, Islamabad, it
will become
evident that there is no match to the Khanpur

Located in the vicinity of Khanpur Dam the Margalla Hills,
Wakefield gardens are a short drive from

The Project site (which in
itself is an orchard
of fruit trees) is surrounded by
numerous
orange, grapefruit and
leechi orchards belonging to the elite of the
area. Khanpur is
known for its
famous "red blood" oranges which
can be found at
no other place in the country. The orchards are
adjacent to
the
historic Gandhara remains and the Taxila Museum.
Khanpur Dam and its scenic lake are a pleasant
ten minutes from Wakefield Gardens. Boating in
the lake and
trekking around its
surroundings is very popular both with the local
and expatriate
tourists.
